Description

This is a possession and movement rondo designed to help players spread out, support the ball carrier, pass under pressure, and avoid bunching around the ball.

Set up an 18x28m area, split into two equal halves. Play with two teams of four or five players. Each team starts in its own half.

One team begins as the attacking team with the ball in their half. One defender from the opposite team enters the attacking team’s zone and tries to win the ball. The attacking team tries to keep possession by moving, passing, and using the full space.

Every time the attacking team completes five passes, one more defender enters their zone. This gradually increases pressure and forces the attacking team to keep moving and create better passing angles.

If the defender wins the ball, they try to pass or dribble the ball back into their own zone. Their team then becomes the attacking team, and the other team sends in one defender. If the attacking team kicks the ball out of bounds, possession also switches.

The game should be played at a high tempo with quick restarts.

Coaching Points

  1. Spread out early, use the width and depth of the zone.
  2. Move after passing to create a new angle.
  3. Take your first touch away from pressure.
  4. Move into a position where the player on the ball can reach you with a pass.
