Description

Players work in pairs with one ball per pair. The first player dribbles towards the cone, performs a turn chosen by the coach, then passes back to their partner. The receiving player repeats the exercise.

Change the type of turn regularly, for example inside foot, outside foot, sole turn or behind-the-foot turn. Encourage players to use both feet.

Coaching Points

  1. Keep the ball close while dribbling so the turn can be performed under control.
  2. Look up before passing and play an accurate pass into your partner's path.
  3. Use both feet and practice turning in both directions.
  4. Encourage players to make the turn tight to the cone, as if turning away from a defender.
  5. Good control is more important than speed initially.
  6. As players improve, increase the speed and challenge them to perform the whole movement smoothly without pausing.
