Description
Create a square using 4 cones.
Place at least one player at each of the 4 cones and one extra at the starting cone. Additional players can be placed behind any of the cones.
- The player with the ball passes to the player at the next cone and then moves towards that cone.
- The receiver plays the ball back and moves to the other side of the cone.
- The starting player completes the one-two pass around the cone.
Move to the next cone after each passing combination.
Coaching Points
- Create a good passing angle before asking for the ball.
- Time the return pass so the runner receives in stride.
- Move immediately after passing; do not stand still and watch.
- Keep the tempo high, but prioritize accuracy and clean technique over speed.
Progressions
- Add a second ball to increase scanning, communication, and tempo.
- Change passing direction.
- Progress to one-touch passing for more advanced players.
- Mandate that players use only their weaker foot for passing and/or receiving.
